Simple Hike (ya right, it is my parents)

On the way to Whitter, to go to our Kayaking trip we stopped at Girdwood to do a hike. Of course my parents wanted a challenge and wanted to climb up to the restaurant at the top of the mountain. Yes, I said they wanted to climb up to the top of the mountain.
It was hard to keep up with my mom, she is in such great shape right now that my dad and I tried our best to keep up.

We took the tram back down. Even though I am so scared to go on them, my muscles couldn't take anymore walking. It took one and a half hours up and 2 minutes down. This is a picture from the restaurant that we ate at after the hike. Of course we need to reward ourselves. I still can't believe we did it, but one of my favorite memories of my parents coming.

Halibut Fishing

Average size halibut best for eating was around 25 to 40 lbs. Weird looking fishing with eyes on the top of its head. They sure are tasty.
Here is our catch. We limited on our Halibut in about 45 minutes! After a 2 hour ride out into the gulf of Alaska. Of course me and one other person on the boat limited on Silver Salmon as well.
The uglier the fish the better tasting apparently. This is Ling Cod and a bunch of Silver salmon.

My parents are here!

My Parent are here! We have had so much fun so far and it has only been 4 days.

We went over to Potters Marsh. The information booked said that there was 15,000 birds living there but we only saw about 10.

Aubrey was doing ballet on the benches.
The men loved seeing the fish, it made them even more excited for there fishing trips. Next we had some extra time before my mom and I went to the temple so we all went to the zoo. They had a small petting zoo where Aubrey was scared at first but after a bit she didn't want to leave. Curt finally got to see his bear. And see, they weren't scary. On the way to Seward we stopped at Portage and looked in the museum about Glaciers. And than they got to meet Smokey the Bear. Than when the men were fishing, the rest of us went to Exit Glacier and Aubrey and Corbin became a Jr Park Ranger.

We were going to hike to touch the glacier but it started raining. We also went to the Seward Sealife Center. Corbin's favorite part was looking at things in the microscope. Corbin said that he wanted to work here when he gets older.
This is Skittle the Otter. He was so cute playing with his green ball and showing off for everyone.
My mom's favorite bird, the Puffin. And for all of those that are looking forward to Curt's last fishing trip, you will have to wait. My dad took all the pictures so I could have a camera for our adventures. His pictures will be coming soon.

Bear Paw

So this weekend was our community celebration, Bear Paw Days here in Eagle River. I love these small town festivals. We went to the parade and took in the rides afterwards. I kinda wish that we didn't see them because they were so expensive. I only told them two rides and we left without any screams, so that was good. It is really fun seeing Corbin and Aubrey have so much fun, and they talk about it all the time and pretend that they are on rides at home. So I guess it was worth the money.

Hot!

So Corbin has been talking about this day for about a week. Every night he has been laying in bed at night, and when I go in and ask him why he is still awake, he tells me, " That slip and slid day is going to be so fun." So today was the big day. The kids had a blast! The weather was great too, probably in the low 80's. That is hot for us.
Aubrey wasn't too excited though. She went down once but told me that she didn't want to get her pony tails wet. So she jumped on the trampoline most of the time.

Fishing in Resurrection Bay

Terra felt sorry for me after her awesome fishing trip and let me go fishing the next day. This is Resurrection Bay, AK. I went fishing on Friday and had the most intense fishing trip of my life! Four of us in the boat limited out on Silver Salmon and caught of couple of Kings as well. The Silver Salmon fight like I have never felt before in my entire life it is absolutely amazing! We saw a couple Hump Back Whales near the boat as well as Sea Otters, Jelly Fish, and several Bald Eagles.
Me and my boss Dave holding two King Salomon one of which is a "Feeder" king and the most sought after fish in the business for commercial value.

This silver got nailed by a Sea Lion apparently
This is the first Silver Salmon I have ever caught and the fight was spectacular!

Anchorage Market

On Saturday afternoon we headed into Anchorage to see there market. They were selling everything and had some entertainment.
Aubrey has been missing her pink pony that we left in Salt Lake. She at least got to ride this bear. Hopefully she doesn't think she can ride all bears like this. Corbin has been studying planes lately. We have alot of planes like this around, giving tours and peoples personal ones that land on a lake near our house. We heard about this ice cream place from our friends. They make the ice cream here in Alaska and name them names like "Glacier Slit" and "Wild Berry". The only thing I thought was pretty gross was they sold ice cream and reindeer dogs at the same place. Not a good combination.

We also got one of these balls. I can't remember what they called them but in is full of meat and cheese, and than they fry it. Even on a hot day it was so good.

So much fish meat

So between Curt's and my fishing trip we have so much fish to eat. Half of our freezer is filled with fish. I am so glad we bought the grill because it make the fish taste even better. This picture is a picture of Curt's Feeder King. I guess it is suppose to be the best tasting fish, and I would have to agree. In the store you would buy this fish for about 300.00 dollars. This is a piece of my Red Salmon.
